Investment mission – India
22.02.2010
The interest in the Malopolska investment offer was one of the main objectives of the investment mission in India organised at the beginning of October by the Malopolska Regional Development Agency and the Kraków Technology Park as part of the jointly realised “Business in Malopolska” project.

The Malopolska investment offer and the possibilities of assistance offered to foreign investors by Business in Malopolska have met with high interest during the seminar organised for nearly 50 Indian enterprises planning investment in Europe. Their projects are connected with chemical, petrochemical, financial, engineering, insurance, IT, trade, consulting and pharmacy sectors.

Malopolska offers to Indian investors not only a professional information package, but also real assistance, e.g. in speeding up the process of issuing visas or searching for possibilities of co-financing projects from EU funds or in public-private partnerships. A meeting with the representatives of the Andhra Pradesh State Government, i.e. from the ministries of trade and industry and communication and IT, also took place.

Because of a long-lasting cooperation between Malopolska and Andrha Pradesh, mission members could meet representatives of enterprises operating in Hyderabad and Mumbai Technology Parks and present them with the package of investment information and learn about plans and needs of Indian enterprises in the context of planned investments.

One of chief assets of the Malopolska offer was the proposition for the Indian film industry. The region was presented to the representatives of Bollywood and Tollywood (cartoons) as highly attractive in terms of film sets, and film-makers received information about the possibilities offered by the Kraków Film Commission (comprehensive production service for projects realised in the region) and the Kraków Film Fund, which can co-finance projects.

Malopolska also presented the offer of Alwernia, where modern film studios are conveniently located. Indian film-makers have also been invited to cooperate within the European Games Centre started on the initiative of the Kraków Technology Park. Malopolska has experience in contacts with Indian economic environments, especially because of the presence of Arcelor Mittal Poland and HCL in Kraków. HCL (Hindustan Computer Limited), and to be precise – a subsidiary company, HCL Technologies BPO Services, is one of the world’s largest BPO and IT companies (ca. 45,000 employees in 17 countries).

The presence of the company in Malopolska (Zabierzów Business Park) is an excellent recommendation for other similar companies from India.
