The Malopolska Regional Development Agency starts the “Capital Investment” Fund. Over PLN 8 million is waiting for new enterprises using and implementing innovative solutions.

The project was inaugurated on the 6th of April by the Malopolska Financial Forum organised by the Agency and opened by Wojciech Kozak (Member of the Malopolska Voivodeship Board) and Krzysztof Krzysztofiak (President of the Management Board of the Malopolska Regional Development Agency).

Forum participants included Waldemar Pawlak (Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy), Jan Czekaj (member of the Monetary Policy Council), Marzena Piszczek (President of the Supervisory Board of PKO BP), Wiesław Bury (Vice President of the Regional Environment Protection and Water Management Fund), Aneta Wilmańska (Vice President of the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development) and Marek Dietl (National Capital Fund).

Representatives of capital and individual investors, high-risk funds, banks, brokerage houses and R&D units of higher education institutions were also present. Key discussion topics included governmental innovativeness development and national economic competitiveness policy, the issue of the financial crisis in the context of capital availability for investment and challenges the banking sector has to face.

The “Capital Investment” Fund realised by the Malopolska Regional Development Agency is a form of a seed capital, which invests its funds in new enterprises using and implementing innovative solutions. The direct objective of the Fund is the commercial exploitation of technological achievements of Polish scientist through the promotion and transfer of technologies from Polish R&D entities to newly established enterprises. Innovative solutions must be known and used in the scale of the region for less than a year, in the scale of the country – for less than three years, and internationally – for less than five years.

The Fund will primarily support sectors such as telecommunications, IT, health protection technology, medical engineering, pharmacy, renewable energy and environment protection. A single Fund investment must not exceed EUR 250,000.
