On the 2nd of December in Kraków there was a conference of the Małopolska Regional Development Agency on “Economic aspects of intellectual property protection in the company’s operation.”
The conference was attended by specialists in intellectual property protection, professors, PhD holders and representatives of specific industries who apply the regulations on patent protection in practice.

“In the modern world of advanced technologies what is primarily important is the protection of inventions,” said in her speech Prof. Ewa Nowińska of the Institute of Intellectual Property Law at the Faculty of Management and Social Communication of the Jagiellonian University.
In her speech she touched upon the issue of protection of industrial patterns: “Care for the protection of industrial patterns is a major dilemma facing small and medium-size companies,” said Professor Nowińska. According to the Professor, the owners of companies should care for ownership rights that frequently decide about the company’s success.

During the conference Ms. Magdalena Maciejska, lawyer and coach at the Department of Innovativeness Promotion and Support of the Patent Office, said that “What is the most important for the economy is the submission of inventions.”

The conference completed the “WIDOK – Własność Intelektualna: Doceniam, Ochraniam, Korzystam” (WIDOK – Intellectual Property: Appreciate, Protect, Benefit) project and inaugurated MARR’s “Intellectual Property, Unappreciated Potential of Entrepreneur” project.
