about the project

The utilisation of the Małopolska’s strong scientific potential provides an opportunity for the region’s economic development. Thanks to cooperation between science and business e n t r e p r e n e u r s can benefit from the latest achievements of science, technological and product solutions. S c i e n t i s t s that are directly involved in business activity gain prestige and practical knowledge about the functioning of the economy. As part of the “Knowledge and practice – key to success in business” project internships will be organised for 100 scientific workers in 65 companies. 

Execution period
January 2010 – December 2011

Recipients
The project is addressed to:

  • Micro-, small and medium-size companies whose headquarters, branch, subsidiary or other organisational unit is based in Małopolska, and which are interested in accepting scientific workers for internship,
  • Scientific workers at the position of professor, lecturer or junior member of staff in scientific or research-and-development units located in the Małopolska region who wish to complete internship at these companies.

Benefits from participation in the project

  • Scientific worker: completes paid internship, gains experience in business, scientific potential = practical application in business, knowledge and experience = strengthening of position on the labour market, implementation of innovative ideas = commercialisation of knowledge;
  • Company: benefits from the scientific potential, solves production problems, innovative solutions and latest achievements of science = higher profits, enhancement of production processes = reduction of costs, increase in competitiveness = success on domestic and foreign markets.

Goal        
To strengthen the research-and-development cooperation and utilise intellectual potential in order to raise the innovativeness and competitiveness of micro-, small and medium-size companies in Małopolska.

Results

  • Transfer of knowledge between science and business;
  • Acquisition of occupational and business experience by scientific workers;
  • Raising of competitiveness of micro-, small and medium-size companies;
  • Raising of awareness of the importance of scientific knowledge in the economy;
  • Increase in the region’s innovativeness.
